Study in MALTA

The University of Malta is the main public university. There are also several private institutions specialising in English language programs, business, and hospitality. Apply directly through the institution website. Malta is popular for English language courses combined with degree programs.

After admission, the institution sends an acceptance letter. You will need to show at least €5,000 in your bank account before applying for entry. Secure your finances early as banks may take weeks to issue the necessary statements.

Non-EU nationals must first enter Malta on a Schengen visa. Apply at the Maltese Embassy or the Embassy of a Schengen state representing Malta. Provide your university acceptance letter as proof of purpose.

Within 3 months of arrival, apply for the Single Permit at Identity Malta Agency. This combines your residence and work authorisation into one document. Pay €250 fee. Bring all original documents plus copies.

Register your address with the Maltese Police within 1 month of arrival. Open a bank account at BOV (Bank of Valletta) or HSBC Malta — you will need your Single Permit application receipt. Get a Maltese SIM card for local communication.
